Gait Changes

The persistent chronic knee pain results in definite gait changes. The walking distance reduces to almost half and the person is not able to walk fast. The body starts propelling forward with higher flexion at the hip during the swing phase while playing a sport. The knee starts flexing during the walk or a run and at the initiation of the run. There is an apparent limping during the walk which results in reducing of stride length. Moreover, with the progression of knee pain, there is more crouching in the posture. Some patients also observe an imbalance in the spine while walking. [2]
