Vascular Injury

The advancement and progression of chronic knee pain results in the injury of vessels, especially popliteal vessels surrounding the knee cap. The experts state that in the cases of almost 30 to 35 percent knee dislocation patients, there is an incidence of severe vascular injury. Any stretching movements can injure the anterior cruciate ligaments and thus causing direct trauma to the ligaments. The vascular injury can either only damage the inner lining i.e., the intima of the blood vessels while other layers remain intact or might cause rupture of complete blood vessel. The damage of the blood vessel limits the blood circulation to the collateral ligaments and serves as a serious threat to vascular integrity.
