Anti-inflammatory Diet For Hand Pain
An anti-inflammatory diet is a healthy way to complete your hand pain treatment. It should not be treated as the mainstream therapy, however. It is more of complementary medicine that contributes to your recovery. Dietary changes include avoiding certain foods that increase your inflammation levels.
Foods that increase inflammation in the body can trigger or worsen hand pain. Thus, it is a good idea to avoid these foods:
- Refined sugar: Sugary foods and drinks can increase inflammation by triggering obesity and diabetic problems. Excess body weight produces cytokines and promotes inflammation.
- Dairy products: Milk and other dairy products may contain certain substances and growth hormones that trigger inflammation and pain in the body. It also causes gastrointestinal issues in people with intolerance.
- Saturated fats: These are found in fatty portions of red meat and whole milk. Saturated fats are rapidly transformed into cytokines, and the type of cytokines they produce can be very aggressive.
- Trans fats: Similar to saturated fats, trans fat forms aggressive cytokines in the blood. Some processed foods like chips, French fries, and cookies are high in trans fats.
