Chest pain
Chest pain is a rare symptom in fibromyalgia but it can be easily ignored by the patients. When patient experiences chest pain associated with fibromyalgia, he misunderstands it for a heart attack or any pulmonary issue. But these features help doctors in making definite diagnosis.
Features of chest pain in fibromyalgia are:
- stabbing
- burning
- aching
- limited to one point but may radiate in outward direction
Fibromyalgia causes chest pain due to damage to muscles, tendons, or ligaments. Most common complaint in chest region is due to costochondritis caused by fibromyalgia. It is due to inflammation in costochondral cartilage. Your doctor may prescribe few pain medications to mitigate intense pain. ECG and chest X ray are done to rule out any possible cardiopulmonary cause of chest pain in the patient.
