Irritable bowel syndrome
According to the UNC Center for Functional GI & Motility Disorders, up to 60 percent of people suffering from irritable bowel syndrome also suffer from fibromyalgia.
Fibromyalgia and IBS share common clinical characteristics as both the disorder have pain symptoms, are more common in women and are commonly associated with stress. Disturbed sleep and fatigue are also common in both medical diseases. Exactly how fibromyalgia and IBS are associated is still under investigation.
