Lack of Empathy
Children suffering from spectrum disorder can be unempathetic and unsympathetic. It is normal for them to laugh when someone is injured or in pain. They may also show absolutely no emotion to another person’s sorrow or happiness. Research has suggested that they lack the skill of “mind reading”. The skill of “mind-reading” can be defined as comprehending another person’s thoughts through cautious observation of body language, vocal tone and facial expression, etc. Fortunately, it is possible for the child to start experiencing those emotions again.
