Lentils are incredible plant source of non-heme iron. Studies have shown that more than 3 mg of iron is present in a half-cup serving. Lentils are also high in fiber as one cup of lentils provide about 8 mg. In addition, lentils are high in other nutrients such as protein, B vitamins, magnesium, and zinc. They can prevent the person from developing anemia, high blood pressure and diabetes.
