Spinal Stenosis
Spinal stenosis refers to a spinal narrowing that pinches the vulnerable nerves within and around your spinal cord. The same thing is called cervical stenosis when this happens in your neck. Your risk of spinal and cervical stenosis increases as you age as it can trigger bone spurs that narrow the spinal column. People under the age of 50 often acquire this disease, and when they do, it is usually the result of an accident and blunt trauma.
It is most commonly caused by degeneration in your spine when you have neck pain. One of the most severe consequences is stenosis. Neck pain is just one symptom. You may also find your legs weak and lose control of your movement – making it hard to walk. You may find your arms or legs numb. You could also lose “position sense,” which is the innate sense of where your extremities are when your eyes are closed.
