Stool Urgency
When you often need to move a stool with little or no notice, you may have ulcerative colitis. This may be one of the condition’s most challenging and debilitating aspects, as it really affects the quality of life. Many individuals with ulcerative colitis are unable to have a bowel movement, despite a sense of urgency, according to the Mayo Clinic. This situation, called tenesmus, can occur when the scar tissue builds up in the rectum and colon – making bowel movements more difficult.
