Adult phase
The children who faced the disease may face the same symptoms after they grow up. The onset pattern in adults is similar to that of children. The speaking of the disease can be limited or widespread depending upon the disease’s type and severity. Sometimes only hands and feet get affected, and only those are getting dry and scaly. Due to atopic dermatitis, sleep patterns and work performance is extremely affected. When the patient relies on long term medication for the treatment of atopic dermatitis, complications can arise. Adults having atopic dermatitis can also develop irritant content dermatitis, in which case the skin becomes red and inflamed due to sensitivity of the skin towards detergents and fabrics. Tight clothing can also affect the skin and can act as a potential irritant. Such cases are seen in infrequent washing and exposure to chemicals. The disease is difficult to treat in adults, and they also become vulnerable to the development of cataracts, and regular eye exams are also recommended.
