Subacute Stage
This stage a transitional between both stages. Atopic dermatitis can directly be formed at this stage. The rash formed at the first stage starts to dry and become scaly and laky. Cracks start to form on the skin, which causes more itching. The breakage of skin cells due to itching gives the sensation of burning or tingling in the skin. This stage’s symptoms are not very severe; however, burning and stinging sensation can get very intense. In this stage, the rashes’ border is not very distinct and is drier then blistered. The fluid is not formed in the bumps, and therefore the chances of pus and infection are less at this stage. Many acute atopic dermatitis moves into the 2nd stage in their healing process, and the condition can get very better. However, the rashes can bounce back during the flare, and long-lasting subcutaneous rash can also become chronic. In some cases, the rash on the skin stars will stay at this stage until the end. To provide ease from the irritant rashes, moisturizers are used at this stage. Moisturizer provides moisture to the dry and scaly skin, reducing itching and inflammation.
