In addition to the physical examinations, a blood test is also ordered to look for lgE levels in blood serum. Sometimes doctors also test the tissue fluid from the lesions to identify any parasite or infection such as herpes-virus or scabies infection. These can give resembling symptoms like atopic dermatitis.
