Anti-inflammatory drugs/ Corticosteroids

In case of severe issues and if the body is facing severe inflammation, then anti-inflammatory drugs, including corticosteroid cream, are used. Corticosteroids help to reduce inflammation within a few days. Corticosteroids of different strengths are available and are prescribed depending upon the severity of the infection and the affected skin area. Strength of corticosteroids include;

  • Minor – Hydrocortisone is an example of minor corticosteroids
  • Moderate – Moderate form is most likely used on skin and includes betamethasone valerate and clobetasone butyrate
  • Strong – High dosage of betamethasone valerate and clobetasone butyrate is used in it
  • Very Resilient – Diflucortolone and clobetasol propionate fall in this category.

However, these corticosteroids can also carry side effects; therefore, don’t use them without a doctor’s prescription.

Other than corticosteroid creams, tablets are also available that are being used nowadays, but these are prescribed for a short period until severe flare-up is controlled.
