Spinal muscular atrophy creates a severe health danger for human health as it creates a weakness in the muscles involving in breathing. There is a development of severe respiratory complications in the SMA patients as the lungs’ functions face compromise due to the pressing of organs in the chest cavity due to spine curvature. While in the case of SMA patients who are infants, there is improper development of lungs, which makes them more prone to respiratory infections. The SMA patients develop weak cough and hypoventilation, which disturbs daily life and further causes sleeping problems.
