In the decompression surgery procedure the doctor removes the tissues which press on the nerve route in the spinal column. The removal of tissues might include the changing portion or herniated of a bone spur or a disc. Following are two main types of decompression surgeries for low back pain
Microdiscectomy involves a less invasive procedure which causes the decompression of a lumber herniated disc. This procedure reduces the radicular leg pain in the patients.
Laminectomy is a procedure in which a part of the soft tissue or bone decompresses removing the compression in multiple nerve routes. There are relatively smaller incisions minimal recovery and discomfort before returning to normal life activities.
