Mouth Ulcers and Glossitis
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to inflammation of tongue medically refer to as glossitis. In case of glossitis, the tongue changes shape and color making it red, painful, and swollen. The swelling can also make your tongue appear smoother and stretching out the tiny taste buds on the surface of the tongue. Glossitis also change the way you speak and eat. Reports suggest that inflammation and swelling of the tongue have long straight lesions is one of the early signs of vitamin B12 deficiency. In addition, some people having vitamin B12 deficiency also experience mouth ulcers, itching, and burning sensations in the mouth.
