Lupus
Lupus is a systematic autoimmune disorder that affects the skin, joints, blood cells, brain, kidneys, heart, and lungs. In this disorder, impaired immune cells attack healthy cells and tissues, causing inflammation in different organs. According to researchers, a person might develop alopecia areata when he or she has lupus. When there is an inflammation of the skin in lupus patients, the chances of alopecia areata rises as the immune cells start attacking the hair follicles along with skin cells.
