Amyloidosis (Overview, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Causes, Treatment)

Plasma Cell Characteristics

The hematologists check for the plasma-cell associated characteristics as the difference between involving and uninvolving Light Chains (dFLC), NT-ProBNP, and CTnT. These special characteristics and other factors like plasma-cell index and bone marrow plasma count indicate the clear presence of amyloid protein deposits.

However, if the hematology tests are positive for amyloidosis, then the doctors check for organ and tissue damage around the amyloid deposits. Special cardiac biomarkers are the indicators of how much damage to the heart is already present. As the amyloid deposition also causes higher malignancy in the heart as compared with other body organs.
