Allergy can be used to give a milder connotation; a skin rash or watery eyes etc. Anaphylaxis, however, is an allergic reaction that is systemic; widespread and involving multiple organs. When this reaction becomes severe enough to compromise the blood supply of essential organs, it is termed as anaphylactic shock, which is a medical emergency and have to be dealt with immediately.
