Some foods interfere with the absorption of iron in the body. Patients suffering from anemia should avoid consuming those foods and take care of their eating patterns for maximum iron availability in the body.

Tannins containing foods:

Tannins are natural anti-nutritional substances present in some foods. Taking a higher than a reasonable amount of tannins can harm our health. They are mostly present in the foods of plant origin and give foods harsh taste. Foods that contain tannins are tea, coffee, corn, sorghum, spinach, legumes, and beans. Tannins are nutritionally undesirable because they inhibit the absorption of iron in the body. The person suffering from anemia should not consume tannins containing foods.
