The patients having any heart defects or diseases as a birth defect are more susceptible to develop atrial fibrillation. There is a problem at the time of the birth with the structure of the heart, which involves the valves of the heart, the arteries, the veins, and the valves of the heart. Some of these congenital heart diseases which become a cause of atrial fibrillation include patent ductus arteriosus, coarctation of the aorta, pulmonary valve stenosis, single ventricle defects, Ebstein’s anomaly, and septal defects.
