Vision Disturbance
Another of the common complaints in the patients with brain tumor, is that with the vision. Patients can have the following symptoms that progressively become worse:
- Blurred vision
- Double vision
- Abnormal coordination of eye movements
- Light sensitivity or photophobia
- Total or partial blindness
A brain tumor can affect vision, if the tumor presses on the optic nerve. The tumor can also increase the fluid pressure in the brain, which can, in turn, compress structures in vision pathway. It can particularly press on, and result in swelling of the optic disc that is involved in image perception on the retina. A tumor that involves the occipital lobe of the brain, which is involved in the interpretation of the vision, can result in abnormality in the perception of the image.
