Oral Contraceptives (OCPs)
When you take the contraceptive pill, there is a very small, increased risk of breast cancer. This risk reverts to normal in 10 years after you stop taking it.
Of note, in young women, breast cancer is rare. Most of the women taking the pill are in their late teens, 20s and early 30s. So a slight increase in this incidence during the period that women take the pill means very few new breast cancer cases.
