Treatment for stage 0 breast cancer
Stage 0 breast cancer treatment options are varied, including:
Surgery
A lumpectomy is a procedure that removes the cancerous breast cells. It is an option when there is one area where the cells are confined. This is a fairly short and simple operation, and a person should be able to return home on the same day after the surgery.
When cancerous cells occur throughout the breast, a mastectomy may be recommended by the doctor which involves removing the whole breast. Plastic surgeons may reconstruct the breast at the same time, or at a later date.
