Hormone treatment
The hormone oestrogen is naturally present in the body and can affect many forms of breast cancer. If a person has breast cancer that is receptor-positive to estrogen (ER+) or receptor-positive to progesterone (PR+), then in addition to surgery, a doctor may prescribe hormone treatment.
The person may also need radiation therapy to manage those hormone levels in the body.
