Breast cancer in stage 2A is an invasive cancer in which: there is no tumor growth in the breast itself, but tumor masses greater than 2 mm in diameter grow in up to three axillary lymph nodes or lymph nodes near the breastbone.
Simply, 2A is a breast cancer that is more than 2 cm in diameter and has spread to axillary lymph nodes. The tumor has a diameter of 2 to 5 cm but hasn’t yet spread to axillary lymph nodes.
Stage 2B breast cancer is also a type of invasive breast cancer. It is defined as a tumor that measures 2 to 5 cm in diameter and grows alongside cancer cell clusters in the lymph nodes. A 2B tumor has a diameter of 2–5 cm and cancer cells have spread by the breastbone to one to three axillary lymph nodes.
