Reactive Arthritis
Reactive joint inflammation can result in severe joint pain, most commonly in the knee, fingers, or lower back. This condition commonly affects the knees; however, they can affect any joint in the body.
It is called “Reactive arthritis” because it usually develops as a response to an infection, for example, a lung infection, upset stomach, or a sexually transmitted illness (STD). A patient with responsive arthritis may develop red, swollen knee joint days, weeks, or even a long time after the Infection has settled. Furthermore, it may also cause other symptoms such as swollen eyes and paleness of the skin.
