Head injury due to falls or any other reason
The skull provides protection to the brain against the penetration of any injury or trauma but is not able to absorb all the impact resulting from a violent force. The cerebrospinal fluid present inside the skull provides cushioning to the brain and surrounds the brain with an extra layer of protection. Despite the protective layers of skull and cerebrospinal fluid, a rapid blow or even an abrupt deceleration to the head can make the brain to press against the inner side of the skull. After a head injury, there is a potentially higher possibility of bruising of the brain, tearing of blood vessels, and pulling of nerves fibers.
