Diabetes Mellitus And Neurological Damage
For the people who are living longer with diabetes mellitus, often complain that they feel constipation more often. The reason behind this is that diabetes causes nerve damage in the body, which leads to slower digestion in the body. Unfortunately, most of the people who are suffering from frequent constipation do not know that they already have diabetes too. So many young people happen to have constipation due to diabetes.
Certain neurological disorders like Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis affect the person’s ability to maintain a normal digestive system. Constipation is common in people with these kinds of neurological disorders or complications. The main cause of constipation is that the neurologically impaired person is not able to transmit the nerve impulses to keep the normal digestion going.
