Those who frequently dine out and have big fat portions of fast or junk food are also at higher risk of developing constipation. All fried and fast restaurant foods are higher in fat content and have zero or lower amounts of fiber in them. The consistent use of fast and junk food puts the burden on the digestive system to work more and ultimately slows down the process of digestion. When we frequently snack on these fast food items, we are losing the balance of our diet, thus ignoring the importance of fiber intake. Moreover, fried food contains large amounts of salt causing water retention. The excess salt draws out more amount of water from the stool, thus leaving dry stools, which are hard to pass out.
