Obesity can also cause DVT, and considered as a major risk factor. Obese individuals are more prone to DVT than healthy individuals. In medical studies, it is reported that obesity alters the blood chemical composition, and leads to inflammation. Also, obesity increases the stagnation of the blood and increases the chances of clot formation in the veins. So, an increase in weight or overweight not only invites other serious medical conditions but also increases the risk of DVT.
