Fainting

A fainting spell ensues in the background of hypotension induced by dehydration. A drop in blood pressure compromises the blood supply to the brain. In an immediate reaction, called syncope, dizziness is followed by fainting and fall if the person had been standing. The shift to a horizontal posture due to falling can serve to reestablish blood flow to the brain by decreasing the gravitational pull on the blood volume.
