Diabetes mellitus
Diabetes mellitus is a disease characterized by excess glucose in the blood due to the inability of the body to utilize and harvest energy from it. Normally, glucose is reabsorbed in the kidney. But diabetic patients have a greater glucose content in urine owing to the loss of the kidney’s capacity to uptake excess glucose. Glucose is an osmotic agent which attracts water and hence diabetic patients face frequent urination which can give rise to dehydration.
