Gout and Pseudo-Gout
Gout is one form of arthritis that commonly occurs in the big toe and also affects the knee. There is deposition of calcium phosphate crystals in between the knee joints and causes acute episodes of immense pain in the knee. While pseudo-gout occurs from the deposition of calcium pyrophosphate crystals in the knee joint and leads to tenderness, extreme pain, swelling, warmth, and stiffness in the affected area. [3]
