Dupuytren’s Contracture: Overview, Symptoms, Causes, Treatment and Management

Having Epilepsy

Having epilepsy

The people having the condition of epilepsy are 2-3 times more susceptible to get the condition of Dupuytren’s contracture. Moreover, the people who are using antiepileptic medications, including phenobarbitone, are at higher risk of developing Dupuytren’s contracture because of the abnormalities in the vascular system happening due to these medications. The ingredients in these medications cause the gradual thickening and stiffening of muscle bands around the fascia, thus causing the deformity of the hand. The readings of electroencephalogram (EEG) also provide evidence that the persons having epilepsy can develop Dupuytren’s contracture in comparison with other clinical diseases.
