Previous injury to the hand

Any physical trauma increases the incidence of Dupuytren’s contracture because the chances of hand deformity are greater. Hand occupations that include excessive use of fingers cause hand injury and compromise the contractions of connective tissue fibers. The hand injury leads to the stiffness and tightening of muscle bands, and the fingers start twisting around the palm, thus leading to the crippling of the fingers.
