Weakness

Weakness
Weakness

As the jerky movements, hyper flexion and extension of the limbs in seizures are a result of the rapid neuronal discharge, the neural pathways are soon fatigued after such a high activity. This results in feeling of weakness in the same muscles which were subjected to uncontrolled, rapid jerky contractions. Afterwards, the muscles may become flaccid and loose, with loss of tension to maintain the strength of the muscles. This weakness is also temporary and as the ictal phase wears off, the neural currents once again conduct impulses to the muscles, and relieve them of the fatigue.
