Treatment of alcoholism may include;

Detox and withdrawal

Treatment can start with a detox or detoxification program – a withdrawal of alcohol that is managed medically. It usually takes two to seven days. You may need to take medication to avoid symptoms of withdrawal. Detox is usually done in a hospital or rehabilitation treatment center.

In most cases of alcoholism, the detox withdrawal is being used. However, it is not so effective for chronic alcohol abusers.
