This is another complication of untreated AS that developed secondary to the stooped posture. Bent backbone can lead to changes in your lungs and upper respiratory tract that makes it hard to breathe. The more bent in your spine, the more severe will be the symptoms.

If you are obese, it becomes more challenging to breath, especially at night. It may also lead to additional problems such as sleep apnea and pulmonary hypertension.
