Leucocytosis

It is a disease in which there is an abnormal range of white blood cells in the body, mostly above average. It mainly occurs due to the result of infection or bone tumours. WBCs helps the immune system to fight against the diseases.

This disease usually occurs when the person is sick or having some stress. There are many types of leucocytosis, like neutrophilia, lymphocytosis, monocytosis, eosinophilia, and basophilia. All these types are associated with WBCs disorders like certain infections, cancer, allergies, parasites, and leukaemia.

The symptoms may include a problem with vision, breathing, a stroke, and bleeding from some areas such as intestine, stomach, and mouth.

Causes of leucocytosis include smoking, removal of the spleen, some infections, reaction to some drugs, whooping cough, allergies, and some skin diseases.

There are two types of test to the diagnosis of WRBs:

  • Peripheral blood smear: in this test, the doctor checks the types of leukocytes present in the body.
  • Bone small biopsy: In this disease, WBCs are made in the bone marrow and then releases into the body.

For the treatment of leucocytosis, doctors use antibiotics for infections, inhalers for allergic patients, medication, chemotherapy, which includes radiations. If the patient is suffering from stress and anxiety, treatment is also present.
