Plant-based diets with very few processed foods, sugar, and unhealthy fats have been shown to help the health of the brain. A heart-healthy diet called the Mediterranean diet has been combined with another nutritional approach called DASH. The combination showed a 30-35 per cent reduction in the probability of cognitive decline.
Make sure to eat Omega 3 fats and watch your servings as well as avoiding processed foods. Of note, obesity raises dementia risk.
