Dementia With Lewy Bodies
This type of dementia includes the development of tiny irregular structures inside brain cells called Lewy bodies. They disturb the brain’s chemistry and contribute to brain cell death.
Early symptoms may include daytime alertness, hallucinations, and distance measuring difficulties. The everyday memory of a person is typically less impaired than in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Dementia with Lewy bodies is closely associated with Parkinson’s disease and often has some of the same symptoms, including movement trouble.
