Red, swollen gums 

In a majority of cases, the first and usual sign of gingival inflammation is the redness of your gum and surrounding areas. However, as most inflammatory gum diseases typically start with inflammation or swelling along the gum lines, it’s hard to differentiate whether gingivitis or some other condition causes it.
