Bad breath
Medically known as halitosis, bad breath can be an early sign of gingivitis. The mouth is heaven for millions of bacteria as well as other pathogens due to its warm and wet environment. These microorganisms feed on plaque and other cellular debris accumulated on your teeth. The bigger the size of the plaque, the more are the chances of pathogenic invasion that can cause bad breath.
Less commonly, bad breath can be due to the toxins you are regularly exposed to, such as those present in fast and junk foods. These toxic chemicals are known to irritate the gums and result in foul-smelling.
Halitosis is also a non-specific symptom and can be due to multiple other causes or severe gum diseases.
