Causes of Congenital heart defects
Congenital heart defects usually develop while a baby is in the gestational period. Heart defects can arise as the heart develops, about a month after conception, while changing the flow of blood in the heart. In some medical conditions, medications and genes may play a role in causing heart defects.
Heart defects can also develop or arise in adults. As you grow, there is a slight change in your heart’s structure, causing a heart defect.
