Certain types of cardiac diseases can’t be prevented, such as congenital heart defects. However, you can help prevent a majority of cardiac diseases by making some dietary and lifestyle changes that can improve your heart health, such as:

- Moderate exercise at least 30-60 minutes a day for three to four days a week can help prevent a buildup of cholesterol in the arteries.
- Eating a diet low in saturated fat and salt prevents narrowing and hardening of the blood vessels.
- Maintaining a healthy weight not only help reduce the risk factors of cardic disease but also other health condition as well such as diabetes.
- Stress is a major risk factor for many heart disease. Taking steps to reduce stress and anxiety can help prevent certain cardiac diseases.
