Piriformis muscle stretch
The exercise specifically targets a small muscle called the piriformis. It helps reduce pain in the base of the back.
How to do it:
- Lie on the back on a flat surface with the knees half bent. Place both heels on the floor.
- Cross left leg over the right and rest the ankle on the bent knee.
- Gently and slowly pull the crossed knee toward the chest until you feel a stretch in the buttock.
- Hold piriformis stretch for a few seconds and repeat on both sides.
