Other Infections

A specific type of psoriasis, guttate psoriasis, is linked to infections caused by streptococcus bacteria. This type looks like small, red-colored raised spots on the skin. This is more common in children and teenagers. Kids will often have a throat infection before their flare of guttate psoriasis. The other common infections that cause flare-ups include middle ear infection, upper respiratory tract infections, bronchitis, and tonsillitis.
