Guttate psoriasis is a specific type that is characterized by small, teardrop-shaped spots or scaly plaques on the scalp, trunk, arms, legs. The word “guttate” means a drop or a speckled shape, and it describes well the appearance of plaques in this type of psoriasis.
Guttate psoriasis affects children and young adults and children due to hormonal changes in the puberty or after a bacterial infection, like a strep infection of the throat or upper respiratory tract. Interestingly, it can clear up on its own with any home remedy or prescription or can become a chronic problem in some cases.
