Positive Lasegue’s sign

Lasegue’s sign, which known as Lazarevic’s sign or straight leg raise, is a sign that can determine if the patient suffers from low back pain and may have a disc herniating below the 5th lumbar vertebrae. Positive Lasegue’s sign is when the patient feels pain in the back of the thigh when asked to raise his straight leg. Sciatica patients who display this sign may have a herniating disc.

Positive Brudzinski sign

If the test is positive, it means meningitis. A patient that suffers from severe meningitis has neck stiffness and flexes both hips and thighs if the neck is flexed. Meningitis is one disease that causes sciatica.
